Overview
Florfenicol is a synthetic broad-spectrum veterinary antibiotic belonging to the amphenicol class. It is widely used to treat respiratory, gastrointestinal, and systemic bacterial infections in cattle, swine, poultry, and aquatic species. Compared with chloramphenicol and thiamphenicol, Florfenicol offers enhanced antibacterial activity and improved safety due to the absence of the nitro group.
Its excellent tissue distribution and longer half-life provide reliable therapeutic outcomes in intensive livestock production.
